Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall Cook Books

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has come a long way since his early days of River Cottage. His smallholding experiment where Hugh attempted to live off the land by growing his own vegetables and rearing his own animals to slaughter has paid dividends for his tv and culinary career, inspiring his books.

Now with several series of River cottage under his belt and various spin off’s including River cottage gone-fishing and River cottage everyday, Hugh also runs his own small restaurant where he cooks and prepares fresh produce from local farms and smallholders for his customers.

Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall has a unique and charming manner of presenting, his homely style of cooking is extremely easy to understand and appeals to all middle class families with an interest in cooking with natural and environmentally friendly ingredients, that can be recreated from his cookbooks.

Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall Cook books

Hugh is best known for being the main man in the River Cottage tv series on Channel 4, which is all about Hugh’s mission to become a self-reliant smallholder in Devon and feed himself, family and friends with locally produced fruits, vegetables, fish, eggs and meat.

More recently, Hugh is known for his Big Fish Fight, which has aimed to reduce/remove discarded fish that is caught my fisherman. This was made into a Channel 4 documentary and his battle went all the way to the European Union Fish Council who eventually ruled in his favour and the discard laws were changed for the better.
