Healthy Eating Tips from Healthy2eat.co.uk

Healthy Eating is widely understood to be the most significant factor to maintaining our energy, fats, muscles, hair, skin and everything else in good condition, and preventing any minor and even major illnesses. The food we put into our bodies has a direct relationship to how healthy we are and even how long we live.

We must stress that healthy eating is not the only component of a healthy lifestyle. Excercise and relaxation is also important to keep ourselves in top condition.

First, let’s address a couple of urban myths.

1. Healthy Eating is simply eating a strict diet of vegetables and steamed fish – FALSE

Infact, a healthy diet is all about being balanced. Everything in moderation is our mantra at Healthy2eat.co.uk and we need to make sure we feed our body with all the essential vitamins, nutritients, minerals, fats, proteins, carbohyrdates and oils that we need to cope with whatever life throws at us.

2. A Healthy diet is the same for everyone – FALSE

A Healthy, balanced diet will share many similarities (i.e. low saturated fats, lot’s of fruit and vegetables etc) however, it will be different depending on your individual bodily needs, which depends upon your age, sex and overall goal of healthy eating (for fitness, weight loss, weight gain etc).

There are a variety of governmental resources that provided recommended daily allowances based on age, sex and other factors, however for the majority of adults a healthy diet will not vary a great deal, although you should be aware of your individual bodily needs.
As a general guideline for most adults, we should be getting most of our energy from carbohydrates such as pasta, potatoes, beans, rice etc, and about 20% of out diet should come from fats and protein. Try to ensure that your diet contains as much foods rich is fibre and starch and try to have smaller amounts of fats, especially saturated fats and sugars.

Fruits, Vegetables and Nuts all contain vitamins and minerals that are essential to maintaining a healthy body, so try to include as much Fruit and Veg in your diet as possible.

That’s really all there is to a healthy diet, just remember to keep all the fatty foods and treats in moderation and to increase the amount of healthy foods such as Fruit and Veg as much as possible.
